In our Tumblebear paremt-tot gym program, a parent joins the child in class until the child is 2 years old. Beginning at age one to age two, we provide a positive parent tot experience with physical fitness as the main focus point. It's an enjoyable physical, mental, and social experience for your child. Your child will learn to safely climb up, on, through, and under circuits carefully designed to develop your child at their state of development. We incorporate a blend of music, gymnastics (bars, beam, tumbling, and trampoline) and listening skills. We also have great educational themes such as Super Bowl Week, Hollywood Week, and Outer Space Week. These themes usually change every two weeks. Fun, creative hand outs will also be sent home with every theme.
Flagstaff Gymnastics Tumblebear program will develop your child's self-confidence and enhance their physical capabilities for any future sport. Safety is of most importance. We teach our parents how to safely handle their tot while spotting simple gymnastics skills. Our scaled-down preschool equipment such as balance beams, incline mats, and uneven bars will make it even more fun to come and be a Tumblebear.

Tumble Bears- Ages 3 through 5 (Click for Class Times)
For ages 3-5 (who are not yet in Kindergarden)
Flagstaff Gymnastics’ Tumble Bear Gym program is the hit of the decade! The Children start with a warm-up and stretch that matches their age development. The class is designed for the progression of gymnastics, which includes uneven bars, balance beam, tumbling, beginning vault, and tumble track. Obstacle courses are carefully designed to meet the child’s appropriate developmental stage at their particular age. Children work on basic gymnastics positions such as tuck, pike, straddle, squat, and lunge. The classes are intended to enhance the children’s physical motions, coordination, and mental maturity. The students are continuously tested on their knowledge of vocabulary, skills, and attention span as the session progresses. At the end of each semester, a report is sent home to keep track of your child’s progress in the class. Every week to two weeks the children will bring home materials that are related to their weekly theme. This makes it extra fun to be a tumble bear!
They will also work on skills such as handstands, cartwheels, pull-overs, forward, and backward rolls. The children learn how to work well with others and improve their fine and gross motor skills and readiness while learning gymnastics. You will be amazed at how quickly your child will learn new gymnastics skills as well as improve their listening skills and attention span.
Girls Level 1 and 2-School Age (Click for Class Times)
Girls Level 1 (5 years to 10 years)
Our girls level 1 class is taught using a progressive method that allows each child to develop at their own rate. The girls move up in levels after mastering the skills at the current level. This class teaches the basics: forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, pull-over, back hip circles, balance beam jumps and walks, prep. for vaulting etc.
Each gymnast is given a developmental belt in which they earn stars with every skill they master. Once they have accomplished their required skills, they progress to the next level. We have found this extremely helpful to the child’s progression in the sport because they know exactly where they are at and what they need to do to move up. It creates a self-driven attitude that is crucial in today’s society for future success. We strongly believe that the discipline and motivation developed by gymnastics if life lasting. The class is designed to develop strength, flexibility, agility, confidence and basic coordination for all other sports. This class is 55 minutes.

This class is mandatory twice a week due to the higher level of skills being preformed. Our first and foremost goal is safety! This is a fun class because each gymnast is allowed to creativly choreograph a routine and perform it. They have six months to prepare and pick their music. This allows the students to take what they have learned over the years and put their own brains to work on developing a series of skills they enjoy doing.
